This year is the first time England’s women amputees have competed as an all female football team.
On a global level women’s amputee football has taken a massive leap forward as a WAFF, (World Amputee Football Federation) have organised the inaugural Women’s World Cup in Colombia this November.
The England team are made up of women with a variety of limb differences and stories, many represented by us at Zebedee Talent.
Some were born without limbs, others lost limbs to illness, some elected to have limbs amputated due to injury and medical conditions that made their lives unbearable. Some experienced bullying throughout childhood while others saw their current and future careers disappear. What unites them is that they are an extraordinary, inspiring group of elite athletes who just want the chance to succeed and make their country proud.
This is NOT about charity, it's about recognizing an elite England team who deserve to be accepted and given the opportunity as international athletes playing at the very top of their sport. However they are unsupported financially at an organizational level and rely on donations and their own fund raising efforts to play. We hope to change this by making the team impossible to ignore, not only getting them to Colombia, but by creating a platform from which they can inspire young girls and boys with limb differences to be anything they want to achieve. As role models they are incredible and are just waiting for the chance to use their success and profile to help others.
The team currently has no financial support or sponsorship and we are reaching out to see if your brand can help?
This team has a very real chance to go to Colombia and win the tournament but they won’t even be able to get there without your help.
The fundraising effort is being hosted on Go Fund Me.
