Nancy was born on a fishing boat between two islands in Norway. Shortly thereafter the family moved to the United States.
When Nancy was 5 years old her nightgown caught fire, leaving second and third- degree burns covering the front side of her body and upper parts of her thighs. Between the dysfunctional home environment, numerous family moves, including the return to Norway during the tender teenage years. She remembers being pulled out of school for what seemed to be a revolving door of hospital surgeries and visits, -an all consuming isolating space. Emotional support was not the norm for this generation, which created a level of separateness within and hospital stays became a comfort away from chaos.
At 24 years old, Nancy’s adventurous spirit led her to move back to the United States where she took a flight attendant position for a charter airline. The connection which came from being around like-minded people, brought a sense of community and confidence within herself. Unknowingly, it is here she embarked on her healing journey.
Fast forward several years, yoga found its way into Nancy’s life! She began to acknowledge pain, grief, love, gratitude, and acceptance of herself and honoring all her experiences, it began to take shape. She found peace within. Nancy has since created PEACE of SELF to support others with visible, and non-visible scars. Teaching others to navigate and embrace self acceptance. Nancy is a Phoenix Society Burn Survivor Peer, providing support at the Orlando Health Burn Unit. Nancy’s journey has her accomplishing and acquiring certifications in Yoga (200hrs+Yin), Life Coaching and Alternative Healing Modalities.
Nancy has learned to embrace life by exploring and regularly trying new things. She looks at life with curiosity and an adventurous eye. She has a playfulness about her, yet a depth that is palpable! Her heart is compassionate and she’s intentional with her connections. Nancy focuses on spending time in particular that brings her joy. Some of which are being out among nature, all things Yoga, and anything home design that allows her creative expression to flourish with colors and energy.
Nancy resides in the states now, however makes time for her home country in Norway. Nancy’s husband and son support and create space for her to flourish. She currently has rejoined the aviation industry and is a flight attendant, residing between Maine and Florida.
