Diana has always lived life to the full, wanting to make the most of any opportunity that has come her way.
When, aged 25, she contracted meningococcal septicaemia and had to have both lower legs and half her fingers amputated, it was her family, friends and love of sport that helped get her through. She learnt to run on blades, ski and play wheelchair rugby. But inevitably her main focus soon returned to what she’d always known best – riding horses. She has now competed for GB in International Para Dressage competitions and is campaigning towards selection onto the British team.
During Diana’s recovery she became a charity ambassador for the eventually successful campaign to petition the government for a vaccination against the MenB bacteria. This was the start of a new direction in her life, leading to her role as a TV reporter during the London Paralympics, a Live Events Commentator, and a Motivational Speaker. She still has a thriving speaking career, sharing her story and thoughts on resilience, individuality and empowerment.
