Valeriia was born in 1994 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. She was diagnosed with Spina Bifida from birth which affected her ability to walk.
She was previously a professional athlete who represented Ukraine in wheelchair fencing for 10 years. During this time she competed in multiple national competitions, where she won various medals, including “Champion of Ukraine”.
In 2020 Valeriia decided to change her field of work, so she started working in an IT company as a Data keeper and after 2 years of work she successfully progressed to a UX Researcher.
In February 2022 she was forced to leave Ukraine due to the war, so she moved to the UK, where she currently lives near Bath.
In her free time she likes to draw, to take photos of architecture and nature, and to travel.
She loves to explore new cities/countries as much as possible, so she travelled a lot and visited such countries as Hungary, Turkey, Greece, Spain etc.
One of her favourite things to do is embroidery and cross stitching, she started this when she was 12 years old and never stopped.
She was also dreaming of becoming a model, in 2019 she took part in the first inclusive modelling school in Ukraine, where she took lessons in acting, singing, make-up, posing, catwalks. She later took part in make-up competitions and was a catwalk model for a fashion show.
