Ben has Cerebral Palsy. This affects his speech and gait. Ben is aware of his disability and
this sometimes has an effect on him, particularly when people stare at him. However, his
disability does not prevent him for having a full and enjoyable life.
Ben enjoys playing CP football, watching TV, particularly YouTube and car shows. Ben is a
very happy delightful boy that has many hobbies. He attends DJ lessons, sailing, skiing,
drama classes and loves swimming. He also often goes to the gym with mum, dad and his
siters. He also attends other sociable groups with children with similar disabilities to him.
He is very confident and loves being centre of attention. People often comment how good
looking he is and he will usually reply, I know! He does get upset that he can not do a lot
of things children his age can, for example going out in town by himself and going for bike
rides with his friends. However, when told he has been signed by Zebedee, he was very
happy, he sees this as he has achieved something and now has a proper job! He can’t wait
to get some work and show his family and school that he can be his own person.
Ben is very determined and has achieved so much more than anyone could have
predicted. Ben likes challenges and if you set him a challenge, he will persevere until he
has achieved this. Doctor once told him during the appointment that he will not be able to
use normal iPhone and tv remote controls due to his hand dexterity. He was upset about
this and persevered and practiced for months, he has now mastered these perfectly.
He was also told that he will not be potty trained and walk unaided. In fact, Ben was one
of the first to be potty trained at his nursery and did a lot of daily exercises until he
started walking unaided. If Ben puts his mind to something, he is very determined and
will do his absolute best to achieve whatever he is trying to achieve.
